This is the next step to what my shoot looked like

This is the next step to what my shoot looked like at the Manuka Pool in Canberra. My dad got up super early to bring his horse from Royalla to Manuka for my silly idea, that I hoped to god would work and everything would come together. The horse came off the truck with legs covered in pooh even though he was squeaky clean when he boarded the truck😣 which caused the shoot to run late!!

People gave up their morning, all to help see my vision come to life! I would not be able to achieve my ideas without people who believe in me.

The final result was achieved in only 20 minutes before the public started arriving at the pool and standing in my shot, and my time was up before I wanted it to be. I felt so deflated when I arrived home from the shoot, feeing as though I hadn’t captured the image I had in my mind.

I’m happy to say I was wrong about that! The shot turned out great, although I didn’t know it. My good friend @gemmabk_art helped convince me it was a magic image worthy of my deep consideration not to discard it . Low and behold the final image has continued to be popular and well over and over again.

Every year I’m scared, scared of winter!!! ❄️⛈💨Living in Canberra there is no escaping it, but at least we don’t get snow, I’m grateful for that! When I meet a new Canberran I give them my winter survival list:
❄️Electric blanket
❄️Good home heating
❄️Kathmandu puffy jacket
❄️Car port or garage so you don’t need to scratch off the frost on your windscreen every morning!

Our 6th wedding anniversary looks a little differe

Our 6th wedding anniversary looks a little different this year with our newborn baby Sophie who arrived 6 weeks ago 👶🏼💛

I was engaged on top of an elephant in Thailand when I said ‘yes’ to my hubby Pete, 🐘and we were married at the top of Mount Stromlo inside the old Observatory in front of our closest family and friends.

At the reception my father and I danced the Tarantella a traditional Italian song and very fast dance, I thought my dad was going to run out of steam he was dancing so hard, plus it’s a very long song but he kept up with me the whole time! Fun memories!

It took us a few years to settle into the feeling of our house and decide what we should change. Well, who and I kidding, I don’t mean we I mean me. Pete would not change anything if it was up to him. I had to really force him to make cosmetic changes to our home, even just pulling up the old carpet that we had when we moved it!! ⁠

If I had complete freedom to do more things with our house I’d go crazy with it and really transform things and I’d start with the driveway but that’s a no go zone I’ve already asked a million times 😆!!!⁠

When I was in college the mere thought of having a career in portraiture totally freaked me out. I mean I was still the extrovert I am today, but asking people for a portrait made my palms sweat! As soon as I left college to study a career in commercial photography I got a job at a portrait studio, then after that studio another portrait studio, and from there the rest is history. I soon learned not to be afraid of taking photos of people, I learned how to pose them and direct them using my instructions. All it took was one small step, someone showing me how it was done and practicing from there. Now I can photograph anyone without hesitation, oh except hot guys they have always made me nervous and still do!!! ⁠⁠

All my artwork is Australian made and hand printed in Canberra with the maximum care and attention. The paper we use is 320gsm which means it’s really thick and amazing quality. It’s special photographic paper made of cotton. It’s actually called cotton rag and it’s really gorgeous because it captures color beautifully and keeps the artwork archival. So it’s an investment piece and not fast fashion artwork.

I’ve always been someone who gets distracted easily. Now that I have a baby in my life I’m even worse. I have a pile of magazines to get through, and a great new book, but reading keeps getting away from me. To be honest if my phone wasn’t around, maybe I’d get to that book and those magazines a lot more often.

You know that Goldie artwork I showed you this week? The one you all adore, well this is how it was created with my team @moxomandwhitney and horse owner and our beautiful model. We shot this at the national equestrian centre in Canberra on a stinking hot day in December and there were flies EVERYWHERE! It was almost unbearable.

The shoot was a great success and resulted in our favourite horse portrait titled GOLDIE.

P.s Goldie is not the horse’s real name I just named the artwork that because it was more suitable than his actual name (Shredder) 🐴
